Every child of God faces temptation. That’s a given fact! As we look at the scriptures, we see that Esau gave up his birthright for stew, Ananias and Sapphira made shipwreck because of money, Samson lost his anointing because of a lady, Saul lost his Kingship because of cattle and the Prophet Elisha’s servant Gehazi lost his calling because of silver and clothes!
1 John 2:16 says, “For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does- comes not from the Father but from the world.”
In an increasingly insecure world, people are living in tension and anxiety. The fear of death has gripped the hearts of people everywhere. Horrific scenes of death and destruction can be seen every day. However, in such troubled times, the child of God can rest assured in the fact that our future is always secure in the hands of the Lord!
In John 14, the disciples of Jesus were troubled because He had given a hint that He would be leaving them soon (refer John 13:31-38). Although, at that time, they couldn’t grasp all that Jesus meant, what they heard was enough to get their anxiety levels to rise rapidly.
Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:25-34 shows what I believe is a great stress-buster for handling life in today’s highly stressful environment. A lot of our stress and discouragement is caused either by unfounded or maybe even real fears and anxieties. The Lord Jesus however said in Matthew 6:34 “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. He was advising us to ‘Live one day at a time’.
We should consider doing so for the following reasons.
Last week, we passed 150,000 sermon views (157k views at present), for our sermons that are posted on Sermon Central, one of the largest sermon sharing websites. God has been gracious to the little we have offered him. We thank Him for the lives that have been blessed as a result. Thank you Lord for blessing this online ministry from the beautiful island nation of Sri Lanka!
Introduction – I had just started working and was looking forward to building a career in the secular world. I was 24 at that time. About a year into my job, I started developing a pain at the back of my left leg, which kept getting progressively worse. Pain killers helped to take the pain away, but once they were stopped, the pain came back with greater discomfort. Eventually, my parents had me examined by a Surgeon. After checking me out, he asked me to be warded in hospital immediately since I had a problem on my spine.
