This 5 point video sermon, focusing on being a witness for Christ, is part of a series on the Book of Acts, being covered at People’s Church in Sri Lanka. May it challenge you as you watch. The video starts with the powerful singing of Desmond Fernando, singing ‘The Blood of Jesus’ and ‘God of the Mountains’. I love his voice!

This past week I’ve had to pray with people battling heavy odds against cancer, children’s health issues, relationship problems, addictions, emotional distress, a burnt down house and many other issues. They feel overwhelmed and discouraged. What about you? Are you struggling against overwhelming odds today?
As we read 2 Chronicles 20, we find that a coalition of armies had come against King Jehoshaphat and the nation of Judah. It was a strong, vast army (verse 2-4) that brought a sense of terror upon the inhabitants of Judah. King Jehoshaphat realizing the seriousness of the challenge before him, cried in desperation, “We have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do…” (verse 12). Maybe you too are in a similar situation?
I had the joy of sharing a message from 2 Kings Chapter 5 at our weekly outreach service last Thursday. It was a blessing to see people open their hearts to the Lord in response to the sermon and many more coming to the altar for prayer.
The sermon, based around Naaman seeking God’s help for healing, covered 4 wrong decisions he took. Naaman was at the zenith of his military career but had a disease that was considered horrible at that time. It was leprosy (verse 1). As a result of the wrong decisions he took in trying to find an answer, Naaman almost lost out from receiving an amazing miracle.
A man was constantly worrying that somebody was under his bed. He went to a Counselor who was willing to help him, but at a high fee, over many months. A few weeks later the Counselor met the man on the street and asked him why he had not returned. The man replied, “I met a friend who gave me some great advice for free. It worked perfectly’. The Counselor asked what advice had been given him and the man replied, ‘He asked me to cut the legs of the bed down to ground level”!
How much we worry and how many of our worries are unfounded? Unhealthy worrying can cripple us to the point of making us ineffective and unable to cope with life’s challenges. It can also lead to depression. We worry over sickness, viruses, finances, family, children, salt, sugar, unforeseen dangers and many other things.
